The outgoing Chief of the Defense Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama sent commendation message to personnel of the Ghanaian Battalion serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS GHANBATT 11) on Wednesday, 31 January 2024.

He expressed gratefulness to the personnel for exhibiting professionalism, hard work, and loyalty in undertaking their tasks at their respective areas of responsibility. He condemned the recent attacks on personnel of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) which led to the demise of Sergeant Kyere Evans and a Pakistani Soldier with others sustaining various degrees of injuries.

CDS bid farewell to the troops in UNMISS and advised them to accord the new CDS the necessary support to enable him take the Ghana Armed Forces to an enviable .

The message was conveyed by the Ghanaian Contingent Commander (CONTICO), Brigadier General Kweku Dankwa Hagan during a durbar with personnel of the GHANBATT at the Battalion Headquarters Bentiu, South Sudan.

The CONTICO urged them to remain professional at all times since the security situation in Abyei was unpredictable. He urged troops to brace up for South Sudan’s general election in December.
