The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe, has commissioned an ultra-modern accommodation facility at the Air Force Base, Tamale, on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.The facility, known as Block A, comprises 12 two-bedroom apartments, 12 one-bedroom apartments, and 4 large dormitories. Delivering his keynote address, AVM Bekoe described the ceremony as a significant milestone in the Ghana Air Force’s efforts to build a smart force capable of defending the country’s territorial airspace against threats while delivering air power effectively for national development.He highlighted the strides made by the Ghana Air Force in fulfilling its mandate of providing air support to the Ghana Armed Forces and meeting national developmental needs. “Beyond these gains, we have also prioritised personnel welfare by equipping them adequately and providing decent accommodation and improved living spaces,” he remarked. AVM Bekoe added that the commissioning reflects the unwavering commitment of the Military High Command to enhancing the welfare and well-being of service personnel. He urged personnel to maintain the facility to benefit future generations.The Northern Regional Minister, Hon Alhassan Shaibu Shani, also present at the event, stated that the facility’s commissioning underscores the government’s dedication to providing essential needs for security personnel. He pledged continued support to the Air Force Base Tamale to further improve the welfare of its personnel. The Base Commander of Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai, expressed gratitude to the Military High Command and the Chief of the Air Staff for improving the living conditions of personnel. He commended the contractor and his team for their dedication, ensuring the project’s timely and successful completion.To recognise outstanding contributions, plaques were presented to Mr Anthony Tieku Nsiah of Tonydollyken Enterprise and Flight Sergeant Nkoom Augustus of the Engineering Wing of Air Force Base Tamale for their hard work and dedication.
