The President and Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended the security services for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the territorial borders of the country. He made the commendation during his last State of the Nation Address, as required by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution at the Parliament House Accra, on Friday 3 January 2025. The President touched on the current peace and security of the country which he attributed to the meticulousness and alertness of security agencies in the country. According to him, government has undertaken several measures to ensure that the civil unrest in Bawku comes to an end. He emphasised that the threat of terrorism and violent extremism was rapidly spreading southwards from the Sahel Region to coastal West Africa hence called for continuous vigilance and cautioned against taking the territorial integrity of the country for granted. The C-in-C affirmed that Ghana has not recorded a terrorist attack due to deliberate policy and planning on the part of the government through the hard work and dedication of the security services. He said the government has approved the expansion of the GAF and all other security agencies; quickening the pace of equipping security agencies to ensure readiness towards emerging security threats.
