A total number of 114 personnel have graduated as Assistant Physical Training Instructors after undergoing a 15-week rigorous course at the Ghana Armed Forces Physical Training School, Whistler barracks, Teshie.During the graduation ceremony which took place on Thursday 2 May 2024, the students covered a 5 kilometers steeplechase race and climaxed it with gymnastics display in head spring, split and roll, horse displays, individual performances and tricks among others. The Guest of Honor, Commandant Ghana Armed Forces Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Rear Admiral Eric Adu stated that the student were taken through well-structured programmes including physical training theory, anatomy and physiology, gymnastics, rules and laws of major games and sports with the view of meeting the overall standard of training and specific input needed to achieve the training objectives. He reiterated the need for the graduands not to rest on their oars when they go back to their units since most of them would come back for the advanced physical instructors’ course. Rear Admiral Adu congratulated the students for a successful completion of the course and advised the young instructors to actively participate in unit sporting activities in order for them to improve their knowledge and confidence in officiating and coaching. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the other sister security service who participated in the course for the resilient competitive spirit they put up against their colleagues from the Ghana Armed Force. Three categories of awards were presented to students who excelled in the course. Trooper Eshun Samuel received the overall best student award. Sapper Owusu Clement Mensah also received the best in gymnastics and the first runner up award whiles the Best Allied Student award went to SEMT (Senior Emergency Medical Technician) Okyere Samuel from the Ghana Ambulance Service. The students were drawn from the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service and the Ghana Fire Service. The rest were personnel from the Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division), the Ghana Ambulance Service and the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority.
