Operatives of the Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB) have undertaken an anti-terrorism simulation exercise for the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK), Right Honourable (Rt Hon) James Cleverly on Monday, 31 July 2023 at the Forecourt of Akafia Lodge, Burma Camp.

The aim of the Direct-Action demonstration was to test the preparedness and capabilities of ASOB operatives to effectively and efficiently deal with acts and elements of terrorism and threats of terror confronting the country. It was also to testify to the long standing training relationship between ASOB and UK Army (1 Ranger Regiment).

The Scenario of the Exercise depicted the receipt of an intelligence report indicating that suspected Terrorist Armed Groups (TAGs) may have taken advantage of international laws, conventions and protocols on migration to successfully infiltrate into the country which required the tactical deployment of a Quick Reaction Force to conduct a capture or kill operation on this terrorist objective.

In his address after the exercise, the Guest of Honour, Rt Hon James Cleverly applauded the team for the spectacular display of skills and professionalism during the exercise. He added that the performance exhibited by the team showed that they were ready and competent to secure the country from any external aggressions and internal incursions and as well ward off any terrorist threats that intend to disrupt the peace of the country.
