The Army Recruits Training School (ARTS), Shai Hills, has held steeplechase competition for recruits of Basic Infantry Training Course 2- 23, on Friday, 29 December 2023. The competition, organized for a total of eight hundred and thirty (830) recruits to test their mental and physical fitness levels, formed part of the physical training activities aimed at converting the young civilians into professional Soldiers. The Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Wahab Issah said, it was important for recruits to undertake such competitions in order to have the capacity to cross battles when engaged in adversity. He told the recruits that physical fitness was one of the most important keys to a healthy body, the basis for a dynamic and creative intellectual activity for the military profession. He entreated the recruits to persevere and be disciplined in training since they barely have a month to pass out. Overall best individual male award went to recruit Nlamani Samuel and overall best female recruit was Nazaiah Elizabeth. The overall best company awards went to Uaddara followed by Kamina and Myohaung respectively.
