ARMY CS1-2004 WELFARE ASSOCIATION DONATES TO 37 MIL HOSP

Army Course 1 (CS-1) 2004 Welfare Association has on Friday 12 January 2024 donated medical items worth Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis only (GH₵10,000.00) to the James Cole Ward of the 37 Military Hospital as part of its 20th anniversary celebration.

Chairman of the Association, Warrant Officer First Class (WO1) Daniel Awimbila Nyaaba, accompanied by some members of the association donated two surgical beds, wheelchairs, fusion stand each, ten packets of toilet roll, a box of disposable gloves and a gallon of methylated spirit to the James Cole Ward.

The Commanding Officer Ghana Armed Forces Critical Care Hospital, Colonel (Col) Thomas Aquinas Gbireh received the items on behalf of the Ward and thanked the Association for their generosity. He assured them that the items would be put to good use and maintained properly.

The intake also donated various food items worth GH₵2,500 to Teshie Children's Home, to improve lives and provide support the needy.


Thereafter, the intake organized get-together at the Defence Mechanical Transport Amenity Centre which their families, instructors and esteemed guests were in attendance.

The Guest of Honour, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Emmanuel Acheampong Baidoo, who represented the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, acknowledged the intake for their dedication. He encouraged them to guide the young soldiers in their professional career urging them to uphold the principles of the Ghana Armed Forces at all times.

He said the COAS has donated Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵3,000.00) to support the Welfare Association.

The Assistant Commandant (Research & Development) TRADOC, Colonel Emmanuel Opare Nyante also congratulated the intake for their contribution to GAF in their 20-year journey.

Former Drill/Recruit Sergeant Major, Ex WOI Habada Godwin, shared his experience dubbed ‘Life after the Army’. He however, advised personnel to plan for a better life after leaving the Army, and urged all to socialize and join VAG on retirement. 

Awards were presented to Army Course 1/2004 Welfare personnel who distinguished themselves through the establishment of the Welfare Association (Club 04).

Members of the Association prayed at the Al Aziz Mosque and later fellowshipped at the St Catherine Catholic Church in Burma Camp.
