66 ARTILLERY REGIMENT CHANGES COMMAND

The 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho has held a handing and taking over ceremony between Lieutenant Colonels Edward Sarpong Appiah, the outgoing Commanding Officer (CO) and Jalali Din Ibrahim incoming CO on Friday 19 July 2024.

The ceremony saw the handing over of the unit colour to the incoming CO, the lowering and hoisting of the old and new unit flag, change of baton, signing of handing and taking over note and pulling out to climax the event.

The Guest of Honour, the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yeboah Asare, commended the outgoing CO for his exceptional leadership and dedicated service. He indicated that the outgoing CO had achieved remarkable feats under his command and wished him success in his future endeavors.

He also congratulated the incoming CO, expressing confidence in his leadership to uphold the standards set by his predecessor and scale new s. He urged all troops support to the new CO and reminded them to remain professional in the discharge of their duties especially during the upcoming general elections.

In his farewell address, the Outgoing CO, Lt Col Appiah, he expressed gratitude to the Military High Command for the confidence reposed in him. He appreciated personnel of the Regiment serving and retired and their families as well as the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Volta chapter for their support throughout his tenure of office.

He indicated that over the past 3 years under his command, the Regiment had played its role to ensure peace and security in the Volta and Oti Regions and adopted the appropriate strategies to contain and deny freedom of criminal activities.

Lt Col Appiah gave the assurance that the 66 Artillery Regiment would continue to defend and protect the people of Volta and Oti Regions from any individual or groups that would attempt to destabilise both regions.

He congratulating the incoming CO and assured him of his support at all times.
