The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Support Services Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Selassie Gagakumah has called on the Director Education, Colonel (Col) Osman Shamun Zuneidu to upgrade the infrastructure of Garrison schools on Thursday, 7 August 2025.

Brig Gen Gagakumah urged Col Zuneidu to renew his attention to the challenges confronting Garrison schools and noted that many of the schools were built decades ago and have not undergone significant upgrades despite the steady increase in student enrolment. He stressed the need for collective action, urging local authorities and community members to be more vocal in demanding resources and infrastructure improvements for 5 Garrison schools.

GOC emphasised that reliance solely on government funding may not be sufficient, and therefore encouraged creative solutions and partnerships to address the pressing needs of the schools. He expressed readiness to support initiatives aimed at upgrading the schools. He welcomed deeper collaboration with the Education Directorate.

Brig Gen Gagakumah further reiterated the importance of efficient management and community involvement, assuring Col Zuneidu of his commitment to advancing the welfare and standards of 5 Garrison schools.

Responding to the concerns raised, Col Zuneidu underscored the need for proactive expansion and modernisation, suggesting the establishment of shared resource centres to benefit multiple schools. He expressed appreciation to Brig Gen Gagakumah for the commitment and noted that the concerns raised align with the priorities of command to enhance educational infrastructure and resources within the 5 Garrison schools.
