A parade ceremony was held at the 5 Infantry Battalion square to bid troops of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT 11) farewell as they embark on a journey for service with the UNMISS.

Speaking as the Guest of Honor for the ceremony, Commander of the Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB) Headquarters, Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil stressed that, the misuse of social media by some personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in recent times has caused embarrassment to GAF, therefore entreated personnel of the GHANBATT 11 to make good use of their leisure by engaging more in sporting activities, reading to acquire knowledge and resting when exhausted.

He added that, troops should take delight in abiding by all Command directives and instructions and obey the Command policy guide lines. Adding that, the success of the GHANBATT 11 is dependent on loyalty, discipline and professionalism.

Brigadier General Paintsil further expressed optimism and confidence in the leadership of the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Ghanbatt 11, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Domnic Ampomah. He described him as a fair and firm leader, a professional and a disciplinarian.

He cautioned all to foster loyalty and exercise effective leadership at all level, as well as play significant roles to the success of the Ghanbatt 11.
