The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has on Monday 11 August 2025 convened a meeting at the General Headquarters to inform the families whose relatives died in the Z9 helicopter crash about the tragedy. On behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the CDS expressed profound condolence, noting that the loss was not only to the families but also to the entire GAF and the nation. He appealed for their consent to accord the fallen personnel full military honours and a state burial, describing it as a befitting tribute to their service and sacrifice. Representatives of the families expressed their appreciation to the GAF and consented to the state burial arrangements.
