The late Muslim state officials were among eight individuals who lost their lives in the Z9 helicopter crash at the Adansi-Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region. The Commander-in-Chief and President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, thanked the families for their patience during the identification process which required advanced scientific forensic methods. The President shared his close relationship with the two late state officials. He described Dr Murtala as a bright intellectual and a devoted member of his team, while Alhaji Muniru was like a younger brother. He expressed sorrow over the loss but found comfort in their devout faith, believing they have been received into paradise by Allah’s grace. The President thanked the Imams who led the prayers, emphasising the importance of prayers for the deceased in Islam. He also thanked the families for agreeing to bury the late Islamic state officials in the military cemetery, a resting place he deemed most fitting.
