The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong has charged the newly appointed envoys to serve as advocates for national security during the Heads of Mission Conference and Orientation Programme at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Accra on Thursday, 4 September 2025.

CDS implored the envoys to focus on capacity building to attract investors to strengthen bilateral and multilateral defence agreements. He urged the envoys to aid in securing logistics and equipment support to revamp the Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) into a self-sustaining defence hub.

Lt Gen Agyapong emphasised the need for strengthening national security architecture in countering emerging threats and deepen defence diplomacy as well as expanding peacekeeping engagements, adding that improving the welfare of troops would sustain morale, and modernising the outfit of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

He reiterated that the mandate of GAF is to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ghana, stressing that national security remains the foundation of stability and development.
