The Association of Retired Regimental Sergeant Majors has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong on Friday, 29 August 2025 at the General Headquarters. The visit led by Ex-Master Warrant Officer Moses Frempah was to officially congratulate CDS on his appointment and promotion, and to commiserate with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the wake of the recent Z-9 helicopter crash incident. In his remarks, Ex-MWO Frempah commended CDS for his leadership and highlighted a number of critical welfare and professional issues of concern to both retirees and serving personnel, emphasing the need to improving their health needs. The delegation also called for a comprehensive health policy for personnel and their families, improved troop motivation and recognition, career progression for instructors, and the reintroduction of the Junior Leaders’ Course. They further advocated pensions for widows and widowers, the establishment of representatives at various command levels to process welfare and pension-related matters. Lt Gen Agyapong expressed profound appreciation to the delegation for their visit and the concerns raised. He acknowledged the validity of the issues, and noted that GAF would take pragmatic steps to address the matters raised in due course.
