The tragic crash claimed the lives of Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Mensah Addo Ernest and 5 government officials. The event, attended by senior military officers, families of the deceased, colleagues and members of the community was marked by eulogies, moments of silence to reflect on the service and sacrifices of the fallen and words of exhortation by the Director General Religious Affairs Brigadier General Benjamin Kumi-wood. In his address, the Base Commander Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi described the late officers as dedicated professionals whose commitment to duty, loyalty to the service and courage in the face of danger would remain an inspiration to all. He emphasised that their loss was not only felt within the Air Force but across the entire Ghana Armed Forces and the nation at large. Air Commodore Yirenkyi assured the bereaved families of the continued support of the Air Force and called on personnel to remain resolute in upholding the ideals for which the departed officers stood. The vigil featured last post was sounding of the last post in their memory.
The Air Force Base Takoradi has held a solemn candlelight vigil on Friday, 8 August 2025, in honour of the three gallant officers who lost their lives in the tragic Z9 Helicopter crash.
