Army Recruits Training School has inaugurated the “Easy Battle” block factory on Thursday November 1, 2018 at Shai Hills.
The Guest of Honour, Deputy Commander of the Army Training Command, Colonel Mantey expressed gratitude to the Commanding Officer (CO), Lt Col Elvis Larbi Sarpong Gyadu for his hard work and initiative to upgrade the school.
Col Mantey commended Glico Burma Camp branch and Societe Generale Bank for their unending support to ARTS and the Ghana Armed Forces at large.
The CO in his remarks stated that the core mandate of ARTS was to transform civilians to professional soldiers for GAF.
Lt Col ELS Gyadu noted that the school was faced with some challenges including encroachment and ownership of unit land, inability to fence the school to improve security, and uncompleted auditorium for recruits.
He added that ARTS was determined to grow beyond aid and in-line with supporting the school as there have been initiatives for the construction of new block factory, vegetable farm, greater cane rats (grass cutter) farm and a block for producing sachet water.
Lt Col ELS Gyadu stated that the facility valued at GHȼ 30,000 would benefit the forces and the community at large and also serve as a source of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) for the school.
