5 April 2019. The late Captain Nana Adams (Rtd) has been laid to rest at the new Military cemetery on Friday, 5 April 2019, after the final funeral service held at the Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church (GMPC) in Burma Camp.
During the service, the 37 Military Hospital eulogised her as a mother, mentor and disciplinarian who was dedicated and committed in discharging her duties professionally. The West Africa College of Nursing, in their tribute, acknowledged her endearment to the fellowship especially to Senior Citizens whom she went an extra mile to make sure were comfortable during workshops and conferences.
The late Capt Nana Adams (Rtd) completed Wesley Girls’ High School, Cape Coast in 1958 and later went to the Nursing Teaching College at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Thereafter, she enrolled into the Ghana Military Academy in November 1968. Upon completion of the Standard Military Course in May 1968, she and some other intake mates were commissioned into the Ghana Armed Forces Nursing Service of Officers
The late Captain Nana Adams served as a Nursing Officer at the 37 Military Hospital, 5MRS, Number Two Medical Company-Sunyani. She also taught Practical Nursing and was in charge of Clinical practice at the 37 Military Hospital.
She was later decorated with the Long Service and Efficiency Medal on Thursday 5 February 1987.
The funeral service was attended by the former President Jerry John Rawlings; the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa; the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama; Member of Parliament, Osu Klortey, Honourable Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, some retired and serving Officers.
The late Capt Nana Adams was survived by two children.
