1. In spite of the several warnings and Command Directives/Policy Guidelines on the importation of illegal/unauthorized items from mission areas into Ghana, some personnel continue to smuggle weapons and ammunition into the country.
2. This unprofessional attitude/conduct not only smacks of gross indiscipline but also indicates blatant disregard for authority. Aside the serious security implications, such acts could tarnish the image of the Ghana Armed Forces in the respective mission areas.
3. I am directed to inform all under command that, personnel who flout the policy on importation of illegal items into Ghana would be made to face the full rigours of the law. I am to add that Commanding Officers are reminded of their responsibility to put in place effective measures to curb such illegal acts.
4. Commanding Officers who fail to ensure strict compliance of the policy on importation of illegal/unauthorized items into Ghana would be severely sanctioned.
