20 July 2018. The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has held a closing ceremony for a Conflict and Crisis Management Course on 20 July 2018 at the Ankrah Hall of GAFCSC.
The course had one hundred and four (104) participants comprising fifty-eight (58) regular students drawn from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and other African countries. The other forty- six (46) were from the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The Minister for Interior, Honourable Ambrose Dery who was the guest of honour for the occasion noted that crisis management was a multi-agency task which required several and varied skills and capabilities to manage crisis situations. “No single agency can possibly develop all capabilities required to manage even the simplest crisis”, he said.
He mentioned that conflict and crisis did not give warning before they struck, hence, there was therefore the need to have a well-rehearsed plan to enable all stakeholders understand their roles in the plan.
He urged the participants to help create a plan or improve upon the already existing ones in their respective organisations which could eventually feed into the national plan. “I urge you to commit yourself to this effort and also to set timelines by which you hope to accomplish the task,” he said.
