Senior Warrant Officer Class Two (SWOII) Logah Patience Ablah, the Drill Sergeant Major of the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), has been honoured as the outstanding female soldier at the Ghana Women Awards (GWA) ceremony on Sunday, 6 October 2024.

The event, held at the Accra International Conference Centre under the theme “Celebrating Womanhood for National Development,” aimed to recognise the achievements of women across various sectors of society.

SWOII Logah expressed her gratitude to the Military High Command for nominating her among the female soldiers to receive such a prestigious award. She encouraged women, particularly those in the security services, to stay committed to their aspirations.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, Major General Mathew Essien, Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), congratulated all the awardees for their unwavering dedication to the nation. He underscored the importance of gender equality as a fundamental human right essential for peaceful coexistence, sustainable development, and economic growth.

The Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Maher Khier, commended the organisers for their initiative to honour exceptional women. He highlighted the need to empower women through education, cultural exchange, and cooperation, emphasising the importance of women’s leadership and development in Ghana.

His Excellency Kheir also urged the awardees to serve as role models and inspire others while reiterating the need to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Lebanon to explore opportunities for mutual growth.
