Headquarters Southern Command has held a one-day Retreat to conduct a thorough introspection of activities as well as make future projections.

The annual retreat which took place on Friday 12 April 2024, at the Kpeshie Ridge, was aimed at reviewing the operations of the Command with special focus on ‘Operation Peace Trail’, for the upcoming general elections.

In a remark, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brig Gen Samuel Yeboah Asare stressed the need for the Command to utilise such fora to reflect on the past and identify both the positives and negatives to make projections into the future with a clear direction and focus; to ensure success for the Command and the Ghana Armed Forces as a whole.

He indicated that the retreat should afford Staff Officers the opportunity to undertake free and frank deliberations on the yearly operational orders and all other tasks and objectives to help higher Command make effective operational decisions.

For his part, the Command Operations Officer (COO), Col Emmanuel Appiah reiterated the essence of the retreat which was to afford Staff Officers the forum to analyse planning methodologies, decision making processes, consolidation of significant stakeholders and partners as well as take note of lessons learnt from the past to chart a better course in line with the GOCs guidance and intent.

He stated that the retreat should culminate in improving on synergy, economy of effort and reconciliation, as well as synchronise all common activities that would put the Command on the path of success for the year under review and beyond, within the context of binding Administrative and Operational Regulations.
