Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, has paid familiarization visit to the Seth Anthony Jungle Warfare Training School (JWS) at Akim Achiase in the Eastern Region on Wednesday 27 March, 2024.

The visit offered him first-hand information regarding the progress and challenges confronting the Unit as well as the opportunity to officially introduce himself and outline his vision.

Commanding Officer (CO) JWS, Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Codjoe briefed COAS on organisational structure, ongoing projects, logistics and accommodation challenges of the school.

Maj Gen Onwona expressed his profound gratitude to the CO, Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff and commended them for their contributions, in the area of infrastructures and the renovation. He acknowledged the Military Higher Command and Cooperate Bodies for their support and assured the school of support.

He emphasised the need to maintain cohesion and motivation to produce professional soldiers and reiterated the need to safeguard the nations sovereignty and protect the citizenry before, during and after the 2024 general elections.

The COAS inspected ongoing Recruit Dining Hall, SNCO’s Guest House and the multipurpose Gym center projects.

He paid a courtesy calls on the Akim Achiase Chief, Daasebere Gyenin Kantar II, Ohemaa Darkoa III and their Elders to introduce himself as the new COAS.
