A band concert has been held at the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band (GAFCB) Square in honour of the Late Colonel Sampson Paa-Kwesi Ebonyi, on Wednesday, 14 November 2018, at Accra.
The Former Director of Music and Bands was enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces in 1978 and posted into the GAFCB as a clarinetist after commissioning.
His exceptional and in-depth knowledge in music earned him a recommendation by the Director of Music at the time to pursue a higher education in Music at the then National Academy of Music, (University of Education, Winneba). He was nominated to pursue an Advance Military Music Course at Kneller Hall in London in the year 2000.
The GAFCB set the tone for the evening’s concert with other exceptional performances by the Ghana Army, Navy and Airforce Regimental and Dance Bands. Other sister security service bands including the Ghana Police, Customs Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS), Ghana Prisons, Immigration and Fire Service Regimental and Dance Bands also performed.
The Director of Music, GAFCB, Colonel FK Ennin read the tribute in honour of the late Colonel describing him as a hardworking officer who adored music throughout his life.
The directors and representatives of the various band groups also read tributes in honour of Colonel Sampson Paa-Kwesi Ebony.
