The Ghanaian Contingent Commander (CONTICO) of United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), Colonel (Col) Michael Yaw Edem Adzo has paid a familiarization visit to the Battalion Headquarters, Athony Company Operating Base (COB) in Sector South on Monday, 22 January 2024. The Commanding Officer UNISFA GHANBATT 2, Lt Col ES Appiah briefed the CONTICO on GHANBATT’s Operational Activities in Sector South. This was followed by a tour of the Camp and an all ranks durbar. During the durbar, the CONTICO commended the GHANBATT for their dedication and commitment in achieving mandate of UNISFA in the Abyei Box. He reminded them on the UN policy of zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and admonished them to ensure strict compliance of the measures and regulations adopted to prevent SEA. He also urged them to remain disciplined and adopt a robust posture in the discharge of their duties at all times since the security situation in the sector was unpredictable. The CONTICO also commended the Commanding Officer for his dedicated efforts and expressed his appreciation to the GHANBATT for their professionalism.
