The Director of the Security and Defence Cooperation Directorate (DCSD) at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Regis Colcombet, has visited the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), Teshie on Friday 1 November 2024.

The visit aimed to explore potential collaborations in various areas, including security, training and academic exchange, between the Military Academy and the French Armed Forces.

During discussions with the Acting Commandant of GMA, Brigadier General Charles Agyeman Prempeh, Lt Gen Colcombet expressed an interest in partnering with the Academy to provide officer training in specialised technical domains and enhance French training programmes. He affirmed the French Government’s commitment to developing French language programmes within the Ghana Armed Forces.

In a brief interaction with cadets at the French laboratory, Lt Gen Colcombet encouraged them to take their French language studies seriously, highlighting how this skill could broaden career opportunities and facilitate communication with French-speaking counterparts during joint exercises and operations.

Brigadier General Agyeman Prempeh remarked that the visit provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen cooperation between GMA and the French Military Academy, fostering a well-rounded training experience for the cadets.
