The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has held its 13th Joint graduation ceremony at the Schroder Hall of the institution in Teshie, on Friday 29 November 2024.The event themed "Celebrating Two Decades of Excellence: Promoting Peace and Security in a Changing World Order", saw a total of 104 drawn from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, graduating in Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security (MGPS), Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security (MCPS), Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security (EMCPS). The event also saw the launch of the second edition of the KAIPTC Journal of African Peace and Security. In his keynote address, the Guest of Honour, the Chief of Mamfe and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III praised KAIPTC for its commitment to peace and stability across the continent. He emphasised the need to integrate technology in peace and security efforts. He encouraged graduands remain committed to promoting justice, human rights, the rule of law, and accountability in their communities. Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III also called for peaceful, transparent and credible elections, stressing the need to deepen the country’s democracy during after the elections.The Commandant of KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane expressed pride in the institution's evolution into a global hub for research, capacity-building and postgraduate education in peace and security.He reiterated KAIPTC’s commitment to developing scholars to shape African perspectives on peace and security in a multipolar world. He congratulated the graduands for their dedication and resilience and urged them to apply their knowledge to address Africa’s pressing challenges. "You are now equipped to face a fast-changing world and to contribute meaningfully to the continent's development," he added.He also underscored the importance of peace, tolerance, and inclusivity, particularly in the context of Ghana’s upcoming December elections. He called on all citizens to uphold the country’s tradition of free and fair elections and to exercise their voting rights in an atmosphere of peace.
