The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has showcased its military strength and capabilities during the Land Combat and Firepower Demonstration held at the Army Peace Operations Training School in Bundase.The exercise, conducted on Friday 1 November 2024, featured the 2 Infantry Battalion as the lead unit, with support from various battalions and air and sea strategies provided by the Air Force and the Ghana Navy. The event served as a practical platform for participants of the GAF Command and Staff College Senior Division Course 46 to employ Joint Task Force battle groups in deep, close, and rear operations. The Guest of Honour, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Frederick Asare Bekoe, described the exercise as essential for the career development of Senior Division Course 46 participants, with a particular focus on operational concepts and capabilities.AVM Bekoe encouraged security personnel to uphold their constitutional duties in homeland defence and stressed the importance of such exercises in ensuring GAF’s readiness to neutralise and counter insurgencies.The CAS commended GAF for its internal security initiatives, including Operations Halt, Boafo, Ahodwo, and Calm Life, aimed at preserving peace and stability. He also urged the public to support Ghana’s democratic status and remain vigilant against unpatriotic activities. The General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Major General Samuel Yeboah Asare, highlighted GAF’s constitutional mandate to protect territorial integrity and maintain internal security. He emphasised that the Ghana Army, as the lead service in land-based operations, engages in regular training to refine its skills, tactics, and readiness for emerging challenges. He noted that the demonstration portrayed a successful blockade of a fictional invading force, with the Navy and Air Force providing essential support.
