A religious service has been held to induct Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Frank Adams into office as Commanding Officer (CO) of the 1 Battalion of Infantry (1BN) on Sunday 17 November 2024.
The ceremony, themed “True Leadership is Found in Service,” took place at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Michel Camp. The event was graced by Major General (Maj Gen) Kwesi Yankson (Rtd.), former Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), who served as the Guest of Honour.
In his sermon, the Chaplain, Reverend Major Richmond Klottey, expounded on the theme, emphasising that authentic leadership is rooted in service and drawing inspiration from Christ’s example. He encouraged Lt Col Adams to prioritise the welfare of personnel by addressing their physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Rev. Klottey also urged unit personnel to partner actively with their CO and advised Lt Col Adams to lead with humility to ensure success. The service concluded with Lt Col Adams pledging to serve with love, truth, and humility.
Maj Gen Yankson highlighted the CO’s role as divinely appointed and acknowledged the challenges that come with the position. He urged Lt Col Adams to approach his duties with integrity, dedication, and reliance on divine grace, and called on personnel to provide unwavering support and loyalty to their commander.
Addressing operational readiness, Maj Gen Yankson advised 1BN troops to remain vigilant and diligent, especially in the context of the upcoming general elections. He emphasised collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure environment throughout the electoral process.
He concluded by underscoring the unit’s obligation to safeguard national peace, security, and stability, expressing confidence in 1BN’s capabilities and anticipating exemplary performance from the unit.
