The Battalion apart from its kinetic operations of ensuring peace and security and protecting civilians, also provides humanitarian assistance the local communities. One of such charitable gestures was the donation of Teaching and Learning Materials to some deprived Pre-Schools in Sector South, Abyei on Monday 6 May, 2024.

The donation was in response to a request presented by the Head Teachers of Primary Schools within GHANBATT AoR including Akenghial, Awolnhom and Minyang Anyiel Primary Schools during one of the series of Community Engagements. Items donated were assorted stationery such as pencils, pens, rules, text books, exercise books, art and story books.

The team also took the opportunity to sensitize pupils on the outbreak of conjunctivitis; the redness and inflammation of the membranes covering the whites of the eyes and on the inner part of the eyelids. They were educated on the signs, symptoms as well as preventive measures and encouraged to visit nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Presenting the items to the school, the CIMIC Officer, Captain Michael Kwadwo Agordekpe emphasised the importance of education and entreated the pupils to approach their education with all seriousness, so they can realise their potentials.

The Head Teachers of the Primary Schools, Mr Abraham Makuac Malai, Mr Gabriel Kuol Bol and Mr Akoc Atem Akoc received the items and thanked GHANBATT for the kind gesture and timely delivery. They also assured that the items would be used for the intended purposes.
