CDS VISITS DEPARTMENTS AT GHQ, PLEDGES SUPPORT

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has visited several Departments within the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday 7 May, 2024 in Burma Camp.

He pledged to support them overcome existing challenges. He also stated his commitment to ensuring all Departments perform at their optimal capacity and efficiency.


The tour provided the CDS and his staff firsthand insights into the operations of the Departments, as well as the administrative and logistics challenges confronting them. The Departments visited included, the Defense Communication and Information Systems, Joint Operations, Military Secretary, Defence Industries Department (DID), Training, Inspector General's Department (IGD), Personnel Administration, Logistics, Department of Legal Services, Procurement, Research, and Development (PR&D), the Defence Financial Comptroller and GHQ Camp.


Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah in an interaction with personnel commended them for their diligence, hard work and professionalism in assisting Command fulfill its mandates effectively.

He pledged to address the logistics challenges gradually starting with the procurement of computers and other equipment for the GHQ (DID) and GHQ Legal Services as well as a vehicle each for IGD and PR&D. The CDS also promised to provide funding to renovate the GHQ Camp offices in the coming days, while disclosing a donation of 2-deep freezers among other kitchen appliances for the GHQ cookhouse.
