The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen OB Akwa has commended troops for their hard work at an annual durbar with all ranks on Thursday, 13 December 2018 at Burma Camp, Accra.
The durbar formed part of CDS’s annual meeting with troops to brief them on occurrences within the year and also make known new policies and set a vision for the coming year.
In his remarks, the CDS touched on the need to honour personnel who had become incapacitated and others who died in line of duty. Hinting that there were plans to compensate some soldiers Staff Sergeant (S/SGT) Amadu Issah of 49 Engineer Regiment, Lance Corporal (L/CPL) Amu Emmanuel and Private (Pte) Nti of Airbone Force Tamale and present gifts to families of those who lost their lives in line of duty.
He advised personnel to be cautious of “Ponzi Scheme” which had become a trend by schemers to rob innocent victims of their money in the name of investment.
The Director General International Peace Support Operations (IPSO), Brig Gen Abubakari addressed issues concerning the recent increment of Peace Keeping Allowances by the United Nations (UN adding that would be channeled into logistics of all UN operations.
Director General, Personnel Administration (PA) Brig Gen CKAA Awity addressed issues concerning the 30 years’ service extension for soldiers which had been passed into law. He stated that the extension had brought additional rank structure in all the three Arms of Service.
