26 September 2018. A two-day symposium has been organized for the Civilian Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on 25 and 26 September 2018 respectively at the Burma Hall, Burma Camp.
The symposium was to review the Armed Forces Regulation Volume IV 1977 and the Command Staff Instruction Procedure (CSIP) Volume 3 part 10.
The review was classified under these modalities; Training, Pension, Gratuity and Social Security, Pay and Allowances, Welfare, Medical Arrangement, Leave General, Retirement and Discipline.
This was an opportunity for the Civilian Staff to contribute to the amendment of the Armed Forces Regulation volume IV which regulates their activities as employees of GAF. Under the modalities, training and leave general were discussed.
With training, participants were of the view that in-house training and refresher courses be organized for personnel to enable them adapt to new changes with regards to their working field. They urged management to install trade pay to Civilian Staffs to serve as a motivation for them.
A lot was shared on the leave general and the various forms of leave were outlined. They included; maternity leave, study leave, leave without pay. It was realized that in the Vol 4, a leave is a privilege and not a right but participants were of the view that it should rather be a right and not a privilege.
The review section was led by the Researcher and Secretary to the Technical Board Chairperson, Mr Alexander Gyasi Pramang from the Legal Directorate.
The second section of the durbar would take place on 1 and 2 October, 2018 at the same venue where the subsequent modalities would be discussed.
