28 January 2019. The Ghana Military Police (GMP) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held an all-female convention themed, “Building a Positive Perception Female Police” on Monday 28 January 2019 at the Log Base in Burma Camp, Accra.
Speaking at the convention, the military representative attached to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, Brigadier General Edjeani Afenu charged the participants to undertake tasks which were believed to be male oriented.
She emphasized on the need for female participants to rise and be counted in achieving greater heights in GAF. She advised the participants to be confident mentally psyche themselves into undertaking arduous tasks for set achievable goals.
Colonel Felicia Twum-Barima, Colonel J Gyasi-Necku, Sub Lieutenant Eto and Dr Erica Dickson of the 37 Military Hospital gave brief lectures on the Dress Regulations of GAF, work and relationship, healthy living and sexual harassment.
In his remarks, the Commanding Officer of GMP, Lieutenant Colonel Bannerman hailed the convention as an opportunity for the females in service to be empowered to undertake challenging tasks. He also noted that the confidence which comes from knowledge and experience was a major factor in the organization of the convention commending the seasoned guest speakers for their time.
This year’s convention saw participants from other units including Base Workshop, Base Ordinance Depot and 1 Defence Mechanical Transport.
