The Signals Training School (STS) has held a joint closing ceremony for the Signal Officers Pre-Qualification (Pre-Q), Signal Superintendent, and Signal Basics One and Three (BI and BIII) courses on Friday, 12 December 2025, at the Signal Training School.

The 21-week intensive training saw the participation of nine officers for the Pre-Q course, 11 Warrant Officers for the Signal Superintendent course, and 25 and 65 participants for Signal Basic Courses 1 and 3 respectively. The course aimed to lay a firm foundation for young signalers, enhance the knowledge of superintendents, and prepare some participants to become instructors.

Delivering the keynote address, the Special Guest of Honour, Assistant Commandant, Ghana Armed Forces Training and Doctrine (ASCOM-TRADOC), Air Commodore Gervase Wienaa, described the courses as challenging and demanding, equipping participants with the necessary skills for their future endeavours.

Air Commodore Wienaa commended the students for demonstrating fortitude and resilience, urging them to keep pace with emerging technological advancements worldwide.

He emphasised that the role of signal personnel in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) could not be overstated, noting that coordination of operations, the exchange of critical information, and the execution of strategies would have been impossible without reliable and secure communication.

He further advised participants to maintain professionalism in handling restricted and sensitive security information and congratulated all students for their dedication, perseverance, and excellence.

The Commanding Officer of the Signals Training School, Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Tetteh, noted that students fully embraced the tasks of their courses. “My staff and I have achieved the objectives outlined in the joining instructions, which were ultimately to turn basic students into professional signalers and enhance the knowledge of upgrading students in their respective fields of expertise,” he said.

Lieutenant Colonel Tetteh expressed appreciation to ASCOM-TRADOC, the Commanding Officer of the 17 Army Signal Brigade, and the Head of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) for their unwavering support.
