26 October 2018. The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has organized the annual Land Combat Fire Power Demonstration at the Bundase Training Camp (BTC) on Friday 26 October, 2018.
The demonstration displayed the operational readiness and combat proficiency of GAF in line with their mandate of protecting the territorial boundaries of the country.
This year’s event which was hosted by the 5 Infantry Battalion was aimed at sharpening the skills of troops in land combat, tactical doctrines as well as building cohesion between all arms in combat within a geographical framework of modern warfare.
The Command Operation Officer Southern Command, Colonel GKT Sam toured the Minister for Defence, Hon Dominic Nitiwul who was the Guest of Honour for the event, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt Gen OB Akwa, the Chief of the Army Staff, Maj Gen A Ayamdo, the Commandant Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC); Rear Admiral S Amoama and other Senior Officers round the Operations Room, Bunkers, and the weaponry.
Students of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Senior Course 40 had the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge on the deployment of a battle field group with demonstrators of a command post and combat support asserts.
The Commanding Officer of the 5 Infantry Battalion, Lt Col SG Odei took the students through the rudiments of the exercise. He said it was a fiction scenario which depicted the battle field.
He was fascinated with the exceptional display of fire power by the various combat service support units and hoped that the students were professionally enriched by the exhibitions
