Unionlet Ltd (UK) Sensitises GAF on Modern Weapons

27 March 2019. FN Herstal and Accuracy International representing Unionlet Limited in the United Kingdom (UK) have held a presentation with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on assorted modern weapons in Military Warfare at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp on Wednesday, 27 March 2019.

The purpose of the presentation was to afford Commanders, Commanding Officers and Weapon/Tactics Instructors of specialised Units and Training Schools within GAF the opportunity to examine and evaluate the mechanisms of the weapons, the balance and stability of the rifles and how rifles respond to recoil and stay on aim allowing the user to make follow up shots without the need to reposition himself.

According to the Product Support Manager with Unionlet, Chris Daines, the weapons were able to perform reliably under most demanding conditions under extreme temperature, sand, mud, water and rough handling.

The weapons were FN SCAR L, FN SCAR H and FN SCAR SC (5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO caliber assault rifles), FN MINIMI (Light Machine Guns available in 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO calibers), AX50 (long range anti material rifle), FN SPR, AX308, and AXMC 308/338 (all sniper rifles), the FN MAG (7.62mm NATO General Purpose Machine Guns) and FN 40GL (grenade launchers). These weapons according to the team were highly accurate with precision and provided increased capability to the user.

After the presentation, the team together with some Senior Officers, Junior Officers and Weapon Instructors proceeded to the Teshie Gallery Range where the weapons were demonstratively fired to enable the them ascertain their effectiveness and accuracy.

Briefing the team of Officers and Instructors at the range, the Director, Special Forces, Col SK Amengor stated that the weapons would be tested and reports submitted to High Command for further evaluation.

Present during the presentation were Director General, Plans, Research & Development (PR & D), Brig Gen RA Gyane, Commander, Army Training Command (ATRAC) Brig Gen MM Aryee, Deputy Director General, Plans, Research & Development (PR&D), Col Hagan, Director Plans, Wing Commander Wienna, Director Communications, Col Essien; Commanding Officer (CO); Jungle Warfare School, Lt Col Broni, and other Senior and Junior Officers.
