Lt Col Benjamin Boamah has taken over from Lt Col William Kwabiah as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Sixth Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Army.
In a change of command parade and a pull-out ceremony to occasion the handover on Wednesday, October 23, 2018, at the 6 BN Parade Square, Kamina Barracks, Lt Col Kwabiah thanked traditional rulers in the Northern region for their cooperation and support during his period as CO and urged them to continuously support the military to protect its lands from encroachment by the locals.
“With the commissioning of our Tactical Operations Centre, the unit would be able to monitor activities in all its areas of responsibility including military boundaries in real time to enable the unit respond quickly to preserve the lands”, he averred.
He said through the benevolence of some few institutions the unit was undertaking projects such as building of a new guardroom, renovation of soldiers’ accommodation and the Medical Reception Stations (MRS).
He advised the new Commanding Officer to stand firm in all situations and discharge his duties professionally.
In his speech Col Boamah highlighted on some of his vision for the unit and assured an effective collaboration with the Police in the region to ensure security and peace.
The Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Saeed commended Lt Col Kwabiah for exemplary service as commanding officer of the unit and wished him well in his future endeavours.
He urged Lt Col Boamah to work hard to move the unit forward and equally entreated the public to give him the necessary support to make his work successful.
