A 20-bed capacity Young Female Soldiers accommodation block (Agbawu Accommodation) has been commissioned at the First Infantry Battalion(1BN), on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 to augment accommodation needs of the Battalion.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General (Maj Gen) Thomas Oppong Peprah, during the commissioning said that, the facility will reduce the accommodation challenges facing the unit, especially for Young Soldiers posted to 1BN. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts by the Government, the Military High Command, and the initiatives of Commanding Officers (CO) in addressing the accommodation challenges.
Maj Gen Oppong Peprah underscored the enthusiasm of the CO, 1BN, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Dominic Ampomah, for the projects he has undertaken including the 30-bed Young Soldiers Accommodation, the Market drainage project, Officers Accommodation Block and the on-going Multi-Purpose Auditorium project all at 1BN.
He further expressed his excitement over the performances of the Commanding Officers in the Ghana Army, stressing the commitment of the Military High Command to support 1BN in the completion of their Multi-Purpose Auditorium.
The CO, 1BN, Lt Col Dominic Ampomah in his remarks acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Military High Command to fix accommodation deficits which would not only accommodate troops from the unit but also from other Units of GAF. He expressed appreciation to the private individuals who out of benevolence supported the projects.
Also at the event was the commissioning and dedication of Unit Tractors.
