The Ghanaian Battalion of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has conducted a medical outreach and cleanup exercise in Rumaysh, a key community within its area of responsibility. The event, as part of activities planned for the festive season, took place at the Al Tajabil Catholic Church and its surroundings on Thursday 19 December 2024. The activity was aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of the local population and also promote environmental cleanliness. GHANBATT’s medical team provided free consultations and treatment to residents, dental care, eye screening, while soldiers and community members collaborated to clean designated areas of the town. The initiative forms part of GHANBATT’s Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities designed to strengthen relationships with local communities and foster a supportive environment for peacekeeping operations. Residents welcomed the exercise, appreciating the visible efforts by the peacekeepers to contribute positively to their lives. The event demonstrated the battalion’s commitment to its mandate of not only maintaining peace but also enhancing the well-being of the communities it serves.
