The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) Regular Career Course intake 33 (RCC 33) and Short Service Commission (SSC 32) as part of their upcoming 30 years Anniversary celebrations have donated some medical equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFSCS), Ghana Military Academy (GMA), Duala and Arakan Medical Centres on Thursday 17 August 2023.
According to the Director General of Medical Services, Brigadier General Raymond Ewusi who led the donation which comprised of Vital Monitor Machines and an Autoclave, the gesture by the intake was to give back to the Ghana Armed Forces by equipping the mentioned Medical Reception Stations (MRS) and also support various Institutions which shaped them into great service personnel as well as promote delivery of good healthcare.
The Commandant (Comdt) of GAFCSC, Major General (Maj Gen) Irvine Nii Ayitey Aryeetey commended the group for such a wonderful initiative. He stated that GAFCSC was setting up an Infirmary that will help check the health status of students at the college and revealed that the donation of the Vital Monitor was a timely intervention.
At GMA, Maj Gen Charles Awity also expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of the Academy to the Association for the contribution towards their Alma Mater. He noted that due to increasing number of Cadets, the donation will help the Infirmary to monitor the health conditions of Cadets.
The Medical Officer at the Duala Medical Centre, Dr Ewuradjoa Nunoo in receiving the item thanked the intake and added that the equipment will be put to maximum use to the benefit of all who visited the Centre.
The Station Medical Officer at the Arakan Medical Centre Dr Akua Afari Appiah Asante who also received a new Autoclave Sterilization Machine mentioned that it was a great relief for them as they will be able to sterilize all medical apparatus at the station without moving them to the 37 Military Hospital.
As part of the anniversary the intake will hold a thanksgiving service at the 37 Methodist Presbyterian Church on Sunday 20 August 2023.
