The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has commissioned modern infrastructural projects at Sekondi on Sunday 22 December 2024

The projects include a 20-unit three-bedroom accommodation christened “Yakubu Villas” and the Sekondi Naval Base (NB) Headquarters block.

Speaking on behalf of the CDS, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, emphasised the importance of providing comfortable and modern accommodations for personnel, as well as enhancing the operational efficiency of the Ghana Navy.

He stated that the commissioning of the Naval Villas and the Naval Base Headquarters block was a testament to the government's commitment to retooling and equipping the Ghana Armed Forces. He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Ghana Gas in acquiring the facility for the Ghana Navy.

CDS commended the leadership for ensuring the welfare of personnel and urged the personnel of the Ghana Navy to make good use of the new facilities and to continue working tirelessly to defend the nation's interests.

Rear Admiral Yakubu expressed his gratitude to the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Commodore Emmanual Ayesu Kwafo and his staff officers for the honour of having the facility named after him. He also praised Supremo Construction Company, contractors of the facility for their exceptional work and acknowledged the support of his team in bringing his vision to life.
