The Ghana Navy has on Friday, 31 October 2025, arrested ten stowaways on-board the Panamanian - flaged Merchant Vessel Grand Venus in Tema following a distress call made by the Captain at a position latitude 05°34' North and longitude 000°05' East, prompting the swift deployment of Ghana Navy Ship YOGAGA BA to the reported location.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the stowaways, all Nigerian nationals, sneaked into the vessel while it docked at Lagos Port, Nigeria.
The vessel, together with the stowaways, was escorted to the main harbour and handed over to the appropriate authorities including Port Control, Ghana Immigration Service and Marine Police for further investigation.
Ghana Navy wishes to assure the general public that additional details will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
