Troops celebrate mission’s end with gratitude and ceremonial honours

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghana Battalion 90 (GHANBATT 90) has marked the conclusion of their mission with a solemn End of Tour Religious Parade at the Battalion Headquarters on Sunday 1 September 2024. The event was a significant occasion for the battalion, aimed at bringing together Officers, Troops and other Dignitaries in a show of unity and gratitude.

The parade was honoured by the attendance of the Contingent Commander, Colonel (Col) George Abosi Oppong, who served as the Guest of Honour. Attendees included Staff Officers from UNIFIL headquarters, various key appointment holders, and the entire battalion. The atmosphere was reflective and celebratory as the troops gathered to give thanks for a successful mission.

The Commanding Officer of GHANBATT 90, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Kwesi Agyeman, delivered remarks praising the troops for their steadfast dedication and exemplary conduct throughout their deployment.

In his remarks, Col Abosi Oppong expressed deep appreciation for the battalion's achievements and commitment to the mission. He congratulated the troops on their outstanding service and encouraged them to continue embodying the values of discipline, respect, and duty. He stated that the service of the troops had not only brought honour to Ghana but had also contributed significantly to the peace efforts in Southern Lebanon.

The event concluded with the troops filled with pride and a sense of accomplishment. GHANBATT 90's End of Tour Religious Parade was a fitting tribute to the battalion's hard work and dedication, symbolising the successful completion of their mission and their readiness to face new challenges in the future.
