NIGERIAN AWC ENDS STUDY TOUR IN GHANA

Students of the Nigerian Army War College Course 8-2024 have climaxed their five-day study tour to Ghana with a cocktail night at the Ghana Armed Forces Command Mess in Burma Camp on Thursday 13 June 2024.

The tour served as a platform to study the minerals sector of Ghana for policy formulation, interpretation, and implementation in Nigeria.

Among the facilities and institutions toured were the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of National Security, AngloGold Ashanti, Precious Mineral Marketing Company (PMMC), and the Nigerian High Commission.

The Guest of Honour, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and Training at the General Headquarters, Major General Joseph Aphour, on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, expressed gratitude to the delegation for choosing Ghana for their research study. He also hoped for more delegations from Nigeria to tour Ghana in other to foster mutual benefit and collaboration.

The team leader of the Nigerian delegation, the Director of Higher Military Studies and Inter-Agency Relations, Brigadier General Olutosin Adebayo Ogunleye, expressed profound appreciation to the Ghana Armed Forces and the Chief of the Defence Staff for making it possible for them to visit relevant facilities.

He emphasised that the study visit has significantly enhanced the team's understanding of the challenges and solutions in protecting solid minerals in Africa and serving as point of reference for policy formulation.
