The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command, Brigadier General Michael Opoku, has officially named a 20-unit single-bedroom accommodation block after Major General Joseph Aduko Aphour at Idris Barracks, Kumasi, on Tuesday 17 September 2024.

The block is named in honour of Major General Joseph Aphour, recognising his significant contributions during his tenure as GOC Central Command.

Under his leadership, the Central Command saw the construction of a two-bedroom accommodation at the Officers’ Transit Quarters, the building of a dwarf wall at the Headquarters, the establishment of a sachet water factory, the erection of a fence wall around parts of the camp and the Mechanical Transport yard, the renovation of the vehicle shed, and the drilling of four boreholes to supply water to the camp and offices.

Additionally, he renovated a burnt four-unit accommodation for soldiers at Uaddara Barracks, constructed the Army Lodge in Danyame, and initiated the cultivation of a coconut farm.

In his remarks, Maj Gen Aphour emphasised the importance of commanders prioritising the welfare of their soldiers by providing essential amenities. He thanked his team for their dedication, which enabled him to execute these projects, and expressed his gratitude to the Military High Command for the honour bestowed upon him.
