A delegation from the United States (US) Army has paid a courtesy call on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Matthew Essien at the Headquarters Northern Command on Tuesday 24 October, 2023.

The delegation, led by Major Adam DeMarco, discussed issues of bilateral relation as well as the modality of the upcoming Exercise Flintlock.

Major Demarco praised the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for being a special partner to the US Army. He stated that the US Army was committed to helping GAF in building capacity to combat the threats.

Brig Gen Essien briefed the team on the current security situation and the threats in the Northern Sector. He stated that exercises such as Flintlock was necessary to equip troops with the requisite skills and knowledge to combat such threats. He appreciated the collaboration between the two countries and hopeful for a successful exercise in 2024.

The delegation later toured the Army Special Operations Training School, Daboya and the Air Force Leadership Academy at the Air Force Base in Tamale.
