Colonel (Col) Dominic Ampomah has bid farewell to 1 Battalion of Infantry (1BN) after transferring Command responsibilities to Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Frank Adams on Wednesday 6 November 2024.The Guest of Honour for the event, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command, Brigadier General Samuel Yeboah Asare, commended Colonel Ampomah for his remarkable leadership and dedication throughout his tenure. He acknowledged Colonel Ampomah’s unwavering commitment to excellence, discipline, and professionalism, and wished him well in his future endeavours. Brigadier General Asare highlighted some notable achievements of Colonel Ampomah, including the construction of a 30-bed accommodation facility for young male soldiers, the establishment of six two-bedroom accommodation units for officers, the development of a commercial washing bay and the ongoing construction of a modern 550-seat auditorium, among other initiatives.During the event, a refurbished One Medical Reception Centre (1MRS) office, one of Colonel Ampomah’s many contributions, was unveiled.The GOC congratulated Lt Col Frank Adams on his appointment and encouraged the Unit personnel to provide their full support. He emphasised the need to remain vigilant, professional, and committed to serving the nation with pride. He also urged them to exercise caution in their actions as the elections approach and to support civil authorities in fulfilling their roles in the electoral process. The outgoing CO, Colonel Dominic Ampomah, expressed his gratitude to God for guiding him throughout his tenure. He extended his appreciation to the General Officer Commanding and various sponsors for their invaluable support, which contributed to the success the Unit has achieved. He advised personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism and to extend unwavering support to ensure the continued success of the Command.
