The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has paid an official visit to the Naval Headquarters on Monday, 10 June 2024, in Burma Camp. Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah and his entourage were welcomed and briefed on the administrative and logistic challenges, ongoing projects, organization and future projects of the Ghana Navy. The CDS commended the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu, for his sterling leadership and the numerous projects undertaken by the Ghana Navy. He praised the Navy's efforts in combating piracy and ensuring maritime security. Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah also pledged to help acquire a Japanese Patrol Vessel for the Ghana Navy to boost the fight against piracy. He also assured Rear Admiral Yakubu of his optimal support in addressing the challenges facing the Ghana Navy.
