Ratings of Basic Naval Training 64 and 65 (BT64/65) celebrate 25 years of dedicated service to the Ghana Navy and the Ghana Armed Forces.

As part of activities lined up to celebrate the silver jubilee anniversary, the group paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, at the Naval Headquarters, Burma Camp to express their gratitude for his mentorship and guidance during their recruit training.

Rear Admiral Yakubu reflected with nostalgia during his days as the Commanding Officer, when the two BTs first arrived to be trained as sportsmen and women. He thanked them for the visit and admonished them to continue to work hard for the betterment of the Ghana Navy.

Members of both BTs presented citations to the CNS to thank him for his mentorship and guidance over the years.

Rear Admiral Yakubu also presented a token to the BTs and congratulated them for serving the colours for 25 years with dedication and commitment.

The celebration was crowned with a dinner party at the new Senior Rates Mess in Burma Camp where some Course Instructors and wives of their fallen comrades were honoured. Amongst them were Commander Abu Zakariah, Ex Chief Pettey Officer First Class (CPO1) Kalai Emmanuel, (Recruit Father), Ex CPO1 Aniah Atinga Bernard and CPO1 Obri Frank. The wives were Mrs Florence Kissiedu, Mrs Owusu and Mrs Fiadjoe.

The Deputy Chief Staff Officer Logistics, Captain (GN) Ramsey Bamba, who graced the occasion on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu revealed that CNS was honoured to have been the Commanding Officer of the BT in 1999.
