Another Ghana Navy (GN) Officer – Lieutenant Commander (Lt Cdr) Robert Agong has been honoured with an award of BEST ALLIED STUDENT (Junior Course – JC) after graduating from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Nigeria.
Lt Cdr Agong, who graduated on 23 June 2023, attended the 95th JC of Nigeria’s AFCSC, which assembled on 4 January 2023, but was officially inaugurated on 13 January 2023, with a capacity of 314 students – 157 from Nigerian Army, 57 from the Nigerian Navy, 84 from the Nigerian Airforce, 10 from Nigeria’s Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDA) and 6 students from Allied Countries.
The AFCSC, Jaji, Nigeria is a tri-service training institution of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, which trains officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Allied Countries and Para-Military Organizations as well as MDAs.
The JC package at the AFCSC is aimed at preparing officers of the rank of Captain and equivalent for command and staff function, and also prepares officers for middle level management of personnel and resources by developing their communication, analytical and leadership skills.The objective of the course is to produce officers with analytical minds and adequate knowledge in command and staff procedures that are capable of effectively and efficiently holding middle level command and staff appointments.
The honour comes on the heels of a recent excellent delivery by Lt Cdr Kofi Amponsah Duodu, when he pursued a Naval Staff Course, Master of Arts Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies at the United States Naval War College, Rhode Island, and was adjudged winner of 2 prestigious awards of the Rear Admiral Joseph C Strasser Junior International Leadership Prize, and the other in recognition of a paper he wrote, after completing a one-year course.
